Course 1: An Effective Communication Toolkit for Translators and Interpreters

Course overview

Come along to our workshop introducing a communication framework based on feelings and needs. The course is tailored to Translators and Interpreters who desire resilience in the face of difficult interactions while building and maintaining safe and trusted relationships with employers and clients. We offer a toolkit which offers a successful and more compassionate way to communicate. You’ll be introduced to the framework and get to observe it in action. Enjoy a fun and easy going experience, where you’ll get a feel for: saying what you feel and need without blame or judgement; listening deeply with insight and empathy; and understanding more about yourself

Preparation

• This tutorial is taken completely online

• We will provide a link to the Zoom meeting upon enrolment

• This tutorial requires a computer and internet connection

While there is no required reading for this course, you may find it useful to read Marshall Rosenberg’s 2015 Nonviolent Communication : A language of Life, Puddle Dancer Press.

Facilitator

You will progress through the courses in an online class of like-minded peers interested in social learning and peer support all under the close guidance of Elizabeth Thomson as your facilitator.

The 90 minute teacher-led tuition: AUD$100.
