Communication coaching

Improvement requires change, and change requires practice. Communication coaching is an opportunity to practice your compassionate language skills and consolidate key learnings in a safe environment with peers.

Testimonial from a Leadership Facilitator within the Department of Defence about Tony as a Leader

“There are few leaders for whom I have such respect, no matter how difficult the situation, your professionalism never faltered.  Your ability to stare down adversity is a quality that is rare but its effect is infinite.”

“You will either step forward into growth or you will step back into safety.”

—ABRAHAM MASLOW

As Abraham Maslow said in 1966,

“I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail.”

Our cognitive biases can cause us to become over-reliant on solving different challenges in the manner most familiar to us. Sometimes the familiar manner isn’t the most appropriate tool for every purpose.

If a hammer can’t fix every challenge life throws at us, what are the other tools we need?

The Coaching to Clarity approach is to understand the biases that can lock down our thinking and predetermine our mindsets - we can thereafter uncover the other tools that achieve goals and overcome life’s conflicts and challenges.

Integrate it.

If you want tangible results, you can’t lead like someone describes in a book. Programs have to be tailored to develop something authentic.

Coaching to Clarity’s programs are successful because they clarify contemporary leadership development principles and then let you adapt them to suit your circumstances.

The journey isn’t to become someone else, it’s to build what makes you an effective you. We are committed to designing and then delivering bespoke programs that support you and your needs.

HOW OUR COACHING PROGRAMS WORK

Coaching to Clarity coaching programs involve an initial consultation and needs analysis to identify what is important to you or your organisation, prior to any solution being proposed.

Based on that analysis, the following types of programs can be delivered:

  • Leadership Keynote address or presentation

  • Half day and full day workshops

  • Multi-day, customised leadership programs incorporating 360˚ feedback and debrief

  • One-on-one or team coaching to address group dynamics and distributed leadership

  • Leadership thinking and behaviour styles

  • Leading through compassionate communication

  • Coaching skills for managers and leaders

  • Group dynamics and the role of delegation

  • Individual and group coaching programs for emerging leaders

  • Individual coaching for high potential talent who want to stretch their leadership skills

  • Coaching and leadership facilitation for organisations seeking to stimulate individual and group thinking

Coaching to Clarity aims to help people through coaching programs and leadership activities that shift thinking on how to be the best leaders we can possibly be.

HOW WE ARRIVED HERE

Coaching to Clarity has a strong and successful history of working within the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the academic sector.  To work successfully within these two institutions, you must be willing to accept a challenge, be resilient and have courage and integrity to speak up when your needs are not being met.  Over the last 35 years, both Elizabeth and Tony have been confidently demonstrating these qualities and are now in a position to share what they know through Coaching to Clarity’s communications and coaching programs.

COACHING TOOLS AND APPROACHES

Coaching to Clarity uses a range of tools and methodologies. We use the Human Synergistics 360˚ feedback diagnostic tools to understand your styles of thinking and behaviour. Based on the feedback from diagnostic tools, we then undertake coaching sessions utilising the latest research and training in coaching to assist you in shifting some of your ineffective styles into effective styles.

Coaching can also be undertaken without the benefit of the diagnostics, in which case the coaching is structured around the discussions and subsequent goal identification by the coachee, following guided questioning from the coach.

COACHING ENGAGEMENTS

Coaching to Clarity is able to accommodate any combination of coaching sessions desired from the coachee because, ultimately, it is the journey of the coachee’s, not the coach. Sessions start with a complimentary coaching session of between 30-60 minutes, followed by a range of 60 minute sessions conducted as frequently as needed to keep the Coachee actively working towards meeting their goal.

Typically, coaching can occur over 6, 9 or 12 coaching sessions, run over a period of 3 – 12 months. Whilst a normal coaching session averages around 60 minutes, the initial session can be up to 2 hours. Coaching is best conducted face-to-face for the first meeting and then can be conducted via video conference or telephone conference if face-to-face is not possible.
